What We Do
Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies provides a different way of understanding what an education can be. In 1966, when Fairhaven College was a dream in the minds of a few dedicated educators at Western, Dr. Paul Woodring wrote in the founding document creating Fairhaven College, “A college is, or ought to be, a community of scholars in which professors, who are seasoned scholars, work closely with students, who are apprentice scholars.” Over 50 years and 5000 graduates later, Dr. Woodring’s words are still true: Faculty know our students to be budding scholars whose research, work, and lives will go on to change the world. The spirit of Fairhaven is alive now more than ever.
What You Can Do
We hope that you will consider this opportunity to support Fairhaven College and all the important and unique programs that make us the wonderful college founded over 50 years ago on a dream and new vision of education. Your donation to our Opportunity Fund Scholarship, the Outback Farm, our Law, Diversity and Justice Program, our Salish Sea Studio, or to our unrestricted fund that goes to support faculty and student projects and college events, will help us ensure that we remain the college where students envision the future, design their own educations, and become the change agents for a better world.
