Dear Friends of Woodring,
I hope this letter finds you well! On behalf of everyone here at the Woodring College of Education, I want to express our gratitude for your ongoing support of our students and faculty during this year's Give Day on Thursday, May 25th. Your ongoing generosity helps to provide opportunities and resources that enable our students to reach and exceed their academic and professional goals.
As you consider where you'd like to offer your support this year, I'd suggest the Compass 2 Campus program, the Human Services program, or the Dean's Excellence Fund.
Our Compass 2 Campus program places college student mentors in Title I schools to increase access to higher education for 5th-12th grade students. The service-learning courses linked to the C2C mentoring program focus on educational equity, cultural responsiveness, and social justice. Mentoring placements include classrooms, after-school programs, and community settings.
Our Human Services program offers immense value, both to students and the communities they serve after graduation. Through a social justice lens, this program engages students in critical analysis and reflection as they examine social issues at various levels. This major prepares students for meaningful careers in nonprofit, government, and community-based services. We take pride in the 260 hours of field experience that our students gain through the program, which allows them to integrate theory, knowledge, and skills through work in human services organizations.
The Dean's Excellence Fund provides support for a variety of important programs for the college. Your donation could providing funding for students who are in need of emergency financial funding, aid us in bringing in featured and well-known speakers, or sponsor scholarships to support other departmental and student activities.
