FACET stands for Family And Community Engaged Teaching. We are a program on campus that focuses on integrating communities and schools. After time in program, some of the students decided to form a club to broaden the reach of FACET. They plan to work with different community partners, have discussions about the different facets within the educational system that effect students, and build relationships with people who believe in this vision.

Mission:

It will be the purpose of the FACET Club is to bring together students who desire to work toward a more socially just and responsible teaching and human services workforce. As FACET Club we work together to build a community of care and support while considering and addressing issues of concern and importance in our communities and schools.

Impact:

The reason we are fundraising is to help our club get started. We are fairly new, and we want to be able to provide food for our club meetings, do outreach with different community partners, contribute to Bellingham's community in various ways, and get the word out about our club and FACET in general.

Woodring Peer Mentors work to support students interested in pursuing Woodring College's fields of study-- primarily the undergraduate and post-bacc fields of Teacher Education and Human Services.   Mentors collaborate with mentees in career/program exploration, resume-building, and in navigating the Woodring application process. The goal of mentors is to foster personal connections through rapport-building and regular contact with mentees.

Mentors work to do the following:

  • Answer questions about Woodring and the application process with a student perspective
  • Help mentees explore the teaching and human services professions
  • Connect mentees with professors, college resources, and volunteer opportunities
  • Provide access to campus resources as needed
  • Communicate information clearly and accurately
  • Invite mentees to fun and informational Woodring events
