Impact
Your gift to the Elementary Education Department will help fund professional development for our students including travel to conferences, international exchanges, and fees for professional trainings. It will also help fund student engagement projects and celebrations of student accomplishments.
Early Childhood Education Graduation Celebration
In March, Early Child Education Program faculty, staff and students gathered to celebrate our Cohort 11 graduates. Alongside several of their Cooperating Teachers, we recognized these students’ accomplishments and hard work throughout their time in the program. Graduates were gifted The New Teacher Book: Finding Purpose, Balance and Hope During Your First Years in the Classroom, and shared their plans for the future. We are so proud of this amazing group of individuals, and can’t wait to follow along in this next chapter of their lives.
Woodring College of Education's Black Lives Matter at School Conference
Woodring College of Education hosted a Black Lives Matter at School Conference which consisted of a series of online events as part of the Black Lives Matter at School Call to Action Week in February 2022. The series consisted of discussions and talks promoting and uplifting Black stories through student vignettes, P-12 professional development segments and a culminating call to action. The intention of the conference was to bring together scholars, practitioners, and activists.
The Elementary Education Department provided $1,000 in funding to assist in covering the costs of the conference.
The 14th Annual Northwest Teaching for Social Justice Conference
The Elementary Education Department provided funding for 4 undergraduate students to attend the online Northwest Teaching for Social Justice Conference in October 2021. The theme of the conference was “Rethinking Our Classrooms, Organizing for Better Schools”.
NW Council for Computer Education
Graduate teaching assistants Lindsay Little and Sarah Dorfler, who teach Instructional Technology courses for the Elementary Department, attended the 2020 Northwest Council for Computer Education conference in Seattle.

I can’t wait to graduate and incorporate what I learned into my classroom, and I’m sharing it all with my undergraduates students and classmates in my cohort. I am so grateful I got to attend, and I hope I can continue to do so when I get my teaching certificate."
