WHO WE ARE
As a dedicated group of student-athletes on the WWU Figure Skating Team, we are excited to provide the opportunity of collegiate figure skating not only to Western Washington University but the Pacific Northwest region in its entirety. Although there are other universities in the region, we are the only collegiate figure skating team in Washington State. We have both recreational and competitive teams that learn from and support each other through the competitive and show season. Our competitive team travels out of state to compete and represent both Western Washington University and the Pacific Northwest against other schools in the Pacific Coast section. Our team allows for past competitive skaters to continue the sport into their college careers, as well as introduce the sport to new and beginning skaters.
OUR GOALS
As a growing club, we have many goals and aspirations for our team on Western’s campus. We hope to expand our presence within the AS community and athletics. This past competitive season, our team competed exceptionally well, taking home several individual first-place medals. As a collective team, we have placed first in team events in our division for the section. We thus hope to continue to strengthen our competitive team and see more of our skaters progress. As with any sport, practice makes perfect, so we’d love to be able to provide more opportunities for our team to learn and develop skills to be great competitors and performers.
WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
Our team relies on generous donors like you to provide an exceptional student-athlete experience both competitively and recreationally. Your donations are the catalysts in contributing to our success as a team. This support will not be overlooked, as every contribution makes a difference as our club continues to grow considerably from year to year. The money will be going into our ice time to practice for competitions and shows, accommodations for our competitive team and show production to put on an amazing annual spring show. What once started out as a handful of hopeful students establishing a new sports club at Western grew into a family of beginning and experienced skaters ready to make a name for themselves in the collegiate figure skating world.
We realize that the current situation is not ideal for a lot of families and individuals, so we are in no way asking for donations if you cannot afford it. We would greatly appreciate support in other forms, like simply following us on social media or sharing our Give Day page!
