Each year for decades, the Associated Students has offered Scholarships to support Western Students in their academic endeavors. Recently they lost a critical funding source which supported these scholarships. The Associated Students split into ASWWU (focusing on Gov) and Student Engagement.
Moving forward there will be one Student Engagement Scholarship awarded to a student who shows commitment to improving the lives of Western students through their work in the campus community.

Detailed History:
Do you remember the Big Blue Bonus Book? The AS coupon book was the source of many a discount, a laugh, and was how many people found out about local businesses. For years this coupon book provided the scholarships with $10,000 in revenue per year that was given directly to the students who were selected for scholarships. As paper coupons are no longer in demand, that agreement has ended.
The Associated Students also split into two areas ASWWU- which is the Executive Board, Student Senate, and the Office of Civic Engagement and Student Engagement- which is the rest of the programming and service offices.
