Western Washington University’s First-year programs’ faculty, staff, and student support groups meet incoming students where they are at the start of their academic careers. We offer students a cohort experience through a collection of course offerings, such as incoming early-start opportunities, small-enrollment seminars, and thematic clusters.
Our seminar course offering variations promotes diverse ways for undergraduate students to engage in their university experience actively.
We celebrate the unique range of life experiences that our students bring to the Western Washington University campus by integrating their narratives within in-class dialogues. Our programs enhance equity in the first-year experience, and we play an essential role in meeting Western’s mission toward access to education amongst traditionally underrepresented students, whom we aim to support not only in their first year but through graduation completion.
Funding will allow us to meet our goal of enhancing and broadening the student experience through their participation in early-start offerings and off-campus activities with community partners that build on their academic strengths as critical, analytical, lifelong learners.
Make your gift today to support first-year programs such as special seminars and opportunities to deepen learning and connection at Western.
