About the Team:

The WWU Women's Rugby Club was established in 1977 and has been growing steadily for the past 46 years. What was once a small, self-coached group is now a strong program of 50+ students who have found their place on the pitch and created an inclusive community while embracing all the amazing things this beloved sport has to offer.

In the 2024-2025 season, the Vikings placed 1st in their Division 1 League. Due to their 1st place finish in the league, the Vikings advanced to Regional playoffs in Pheonix, AZ where they finished top 4 in the nation for 15's. We have improved immensely as the season went on, now becoming a force to be reckoned with. Now the Vikings begin their road to 7's Nationals, where they took home the championship last year! We are so grateful for the opportunity to return to Nationals, which would not have been possible without the support of all of our donors and fans. Our players have grown so much since the beginning of the season and their hard work paid off!

The resilient players of WWU's Women’s Rugby program welcome a fresh generation of newcomers each year and are constantly working to challenge themselves and grow as not only a team, but as individuals. We are so grateful for our amazing volunteer coaches Kaylie Gladwell, Charlie Ronan, Abby Daugherty and Mike Mauger who contribute countless hours of their time to this team and bring a plethora of rugby knowledge. We wouldn't be where we are today without them! We would also like to thank all of our friends, families, and fans that have supported us throughout this long, successful season!

How this Give Day will help us:

Our three primary goals for Give Day contributions is to lower our players’ individual dues, have more funds for traveling, and to expand the WWU Women’s Rugby community to our youth programs. As a club sport, most of our funding comes from the players themselves and the team’s fundraising efforts. Support from family, friends, and our community is what allows us to keep this team running. Donating on Give Day will solidify our teams’ foundations in what is truly important: the people that are a part of it. Once that goal has been met, any additional funds will be applied to league and tournament registration costs. This will allow us to keep playing and meeting new teams as we expand the rugby community here in the Pacific Northwest.
