The Great Puzzle Hunt

Please help us honor Millie and her years of services and work within the WWU Math Department with a gift to the Millie Johnson Great Puzzle Hunt Fund. While she has officially retired from the classroom, she’s not done running the Puzzle Hunt. Your gift will allow us to ensure The Great Puzzle Hunt continues!

By day, Millie Johnson has been a beloved professor of Mathematics for 47 years. She has received awards for excellence in teaching, inspired a love of learning in hundreds of students, and empowered those who didn’t think they would ever be good at math to master the concepts with confidence.

In 2016, Millie Johnson started the Great Puzzle Hunt, a scavenger hunt adventure that involved puzzles. This event brings students, alumni, kids, community members, and people from around the world together for a fun day of bonding powered by both the left and right sides of our brains. The Great Puzzle Hunt brings hundreds of people to campus and has attracted teams from across the nation-shining the spotlight on WWU and our amazing faculty and programs.

With the newly created hybrid platform, people from everywhere in the world are playing virtually and joining the in-person players. All the action is streamed live from Red Square!

Your gift will provide much needed funding for Millie’s labor of love to keep the Great Puzzle Hunt registration FREE so people from all walks of life can participate. Please help us honor Millie with your gift today!
