Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Department
Thank You For Considering Supporting Important Language Studies

About

The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures is a meeting place for diversity and for critical thinking. Our faculty members represent sixteen countries and offer courses in nine languages. We cherish the contributions that this diversity brings to our campus community and to the community at large. Learning a language is the primary gateway to understanding the cultures and values of those who speak it. Learning a language fosters empathy, respect, and appreciation of the richness found across diverse cultures. By embracing diversity we can find creative solutions to problems and challenges of both local and global scope. As world language educators, we believe these are values that make our communities, and ourselves, stronger.

Impact

We are very proud of our reputation for excellence in language education, and your gift helps us maintain the high quality of the department’s programs. Thank you! Your donations allow us to bring speakers and events to campus that ingrain in our students an even deeper love for languages, broadening their vision and understanding of diverse cultures. Your gift also allows us to continue offering scholarships to our students!

Scholarships

Our department has many scholarship opportunities for students to apply, thanks to your generosity! We are very proud to award scholarships to students that are named in honor of our faculty, alumni, and community supporters. During the 2024/25 academic year, nearly $22,000 was awarded to our students! On behalf of our students, thank you for your contributions and generosity!!
