Support WWU Accounting Students Today!
Your generosity directly supports our students as they pursue academic and career excellence, leading the next generation of financial professionals.
Your support helps us offer generous need-based scholarships, making sure a broad range of students have access to our world-class accounting programs.
We also award students who achieve outstanding academic and extracurricular performance, and to those who go above and beyond in serving their communities.
Your donations help to fund our highly active Theta Phi chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP), which achieved Gold Chapter status last year, in recognition of its active commitment to community service and professional development.
BAP works closely with the Accounting Department to create a packed calendar of events throughout the school year, which includes hosting presentations from accounting industry professionals on campus every week.
We also collaborate to produce large-scale professional networking opportunities. Our latest Meet the Professionals event drew together more than 140 students and professionals, with 22 firms represented.
Your donations help us retain a dedicated writing instructor, who supports our students in improving crucial communication and critical thinking skills.
Last year, donor support also helped us employ an outstanding student as a dedicated Presentation Tutor, who coaches students across our programs and helps them get comfortable sharing their ideas with an audience.
In an increasingly competitive job-market, our students need skills that go well beyond the classroom.
Your investment in the accounting department powers our Professional and Career Readiness programs, which equip students with the tools they need to thrive as they enter the workforce and progress in their careers.
We put your donations to work in our outreach to regional high-school and community college students.
We have also launched new initiatives to attract incoming transfer students, freshmen and sophomores into our accounting programs.
We are constantly seeking out talented new students to join our programs, so we can help the accounting profession thrive.
Your support powers our Volunteer Income Tax Preparation (VITA) program, which assists members of the community with preparing and filing their tax returns.
This year, the program attracted over 30 volunteers, who helped more than 120 members of our wider community to file their returns, including providing services in Spanish to serve non-English language speakers.
The program not only provides a valuable service to our community – it also helps our students gain hands-on experience of real-world accounting.
