With the arrival of spring, I have been reflecting on the creative energy that fills our campus this time of year. Across studios, rehearsal halls, performance spaces, and galleries, our students and faculty continue to bring new ideas to life through collaboration, curiosity, and disciplined practice.
In February, our Theatre students earned regional recognition for their outstanding work at the American College Theatre Festival, a testament to the talent, dedication, and mentorship that define this program.
In March, the WWU Wind Symphony represented Western at the CBDNA conference in Reno, Nevada, sharing their work on a national stage.
Later this spring, in May, we will welcome WWU alumnus Dan Erickson, creator of Severance, to campus for a conversation about storytelling and the creative process in developing a hit TV show. Together, these experiences reflect not only individual excellence but the strength of a community that supports ambitious artistic work.
Experiences like these remind us that the arts thrive when people come together to share ideas, take risks, and celebrate one another’s accomplishments.
I hope you will join us for performances, exhibitions, and events this season as we continue to support the artists and scholars who make this college such an inspiring place to learn and create.
Please consider making a gift to support our students so they can experience these irreplaceable experiences in their development as people, artists, and scholars.
Explore the departments and programs of our college to find a place where you feel like your gift will make the most difference.
You can make a gift directly to the Dean's Fund for Excellence, which is one of the best ways to support the emergent student opportunities - unique and often-unlooked-for experiences that change the lives of our students.
Without your help, many of these opportunities will be out of reach for us.
Sincerely,
Christopher Bianco
Dean of CFPA
