Why Your Donation Matters!

Thousands of Western Washington University Human Services graduates are making a difference in communities every day. They work as case managers, advocates, grant writers, youth workers, volunteer coordinators, fundraisers, trainers, para-educators, and advocacy specialists in nonprofit organizations, schools, universities, and government agencies.

With a strong social justice orientation, our program prepares students to address critical social issues through hands-on experience, research, and community engagement. Every Human Services major completes 260 hours of field experience, integrating theory with practice to drive real change in the world.

In 2025, one of our human services, a senior, was awarded an Undergraduate Research Grant for work they are doing with marginalized communities and the web user experience. In 2023, a group of students seeing the wake of isolation that COVID-19 left, banded together and worked on sense of belonging, creating community, empowerment, support and outreach to the student community, and have since created a Human Services Club that is open to all students on campus and works with other student clubs to create opportunities for service and change. In 2024, and again in 2025, Human Services Students are participating in WWU Scholars Week to showcase their research activities and interests in drawing awareness and making change in social issues.

Support students and Ecopsychology by donating to the Ecopsychology Minor!

The minor program in Ecopsychology is an interdisciplinary plan of study that provides students the opportunity to become familiar with theoretical, historical, and comparative perspectives in Ecopsychology and its practice. This course of study complements majors in any of the disciplines and is focused on learning about the promotion of health and understanding our planet as a living system.

Students gain hands on practice through internships.
