The Munro Institute celebrates a year of impact honoring Ralph Munro’s legacy through programs that empower future leaders:
-Celebrating Ralph Munro’s Legacy: Our fall event, featuring Eric Liu, Lt Governor Denny Heck and community and state leaders, drew over 200 students and community members for conversations on citizenship, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.

-Creating a Scaffold for Active Citizenship: High school students joined us on campus to hear Eric Liu and explore civic leadership opportunities with Western student leaders.
-Connecting Students to State Leadership: WWU political science students traveled to Olympia to meet state leaders, gaining insight into policymaking and public service careers.
-Responding to World Events as they Occur: We respond quickly with Teach-Ins that convene WWU Faculty experts to help Western students and community make sense of events in the news, such as the United States interventions in Venezuela and Iran.
-Taking Civic Learning to a Global Scale: In partnership with the University of Montana and the US Department of State, we have invited Fellows in the Young Southeast Asian Leadership Initiative from 11 different countries to engage with Western students and community leaders for month-long programs on governance and community engagement.
Next Fall we will bring nationally-recognized speakers to commemorate America 250 through a Fall program focused on the historic and modern legacies of our Country’s founding for civic engagement and collective action.
Civic education and civil discourse are more needed than ever. Your gift today helps us expand these efforts and deepen our reach.
Thank you for supporting the Munro Institute and Ralph Munro's vision for engaged citizenship!
