Support MIS Student Professional Development !!!
Why We Need Your Support
The funds raised for this year’s MIS Give Day will support professional development programs for our MIS students including our MIS student club, our student "IT Leadership" program, and other professional developmental activities.
- MIS Association (MISA) student club: MISA is an active club with outstanding student leaders who organize weekly events to support student professional development. MISA events include industry guest speakers, career development workshops, and technical workshops. In addition, the club provides an opportunity to connect with others and develop leadership skills. Your donation will allow MISA to serve our students without requiring extra student fees to cover club expenses.
- IT Leadership (ITL) program: ITL brings together MIS and Business Analytics students to cultivate professional and technical skills beyond the traditional classroom. Recent ITL activities include student presentations, collaborative projects, and technology workshops (e.g., agentic AI and vibe coding). Give Day support enables ITL to expand these opportunities, directly benefiting students as they prepare for careers in technology.
Donation Challenge Match
The MIS faculty members have established a $800 matching fund for this year's MIS Give Day to support the MISA club. The first $800 in gifts to support the MIS students will be matched dollar for dollar (up to $100 per gift). You are invited to join the MIS faculty members in support of our students !!!
The Impact of Your Support
Your support creates meaningful opportunities for our students to explore the information systems profession, gain hands-on experience, develop leadership skills, and build lasting connections with peers and industry professionals.
Gifts to the "MIS Association Club (MISA) Fund" will support MISA activities. One of our MISA club leaders, Peyton Yee, shares how the opportunities provided through MISA have made a difference:
![]() Peyton Yee, MIS Senior & MISA Outreach Officer | "Through MISA, I discovered a community of students, professors, and alumni who are passionate not only about their own paths in MIS but also about uplifting those around them to grow, too. MISA has been a large motivator for me to acquire new skills such as data-driven decision-making and process mapping, while also forming meaningful connections and practicing professionalism through mock interviews and working alongside my peers. I hope for other students to discover the same opportunities and supportive community that have shaped my experience at WWU. With the support of donors, the club gets to see new faces, feed attendees, and invest in our future leaders. Thank you for encouraging students to stay involved and enabling club officers to effectively provide the resources to do so. We are beyond grateful for all contributions." |
Gifts to the "MIS Student Professional Development Fund" will support additional types of student development activities, including the IT Leadership (ITL) program.
| This year, students in the ITL program have created a "Workshop Series on Practical AI in Business." In February, MIS seniors and ITL students Niko Papadopoulos and Kennedy Harris (see photo) prepared and delivered a hands-on workshop on Agentic AI. The workshop was attended by an engaged audience of WWU students, faculty, and staff. | ![]() |

MIS at WWU
To prepare our students for their careers, WWU's MIS program provides a solid foundation of concepts and skills, combined with hands-on assignments and projects. Classwork is supplemented with extracurricular opportunities to promote professional and career readiness.
