Nearly 20 years ago, the seed for WWU's annual Children's Literature Conference was planted. Since then we've hosted over 75 authors and illustrators for events at Western. And sometimes, we've been fortunate to bring those folks into schools. But not often enough!
A few years ago Nancy Johnson retired from teaching at WWU and directing the Conference. Her dream continues to connect more children and teens, teachers and librarians, with authors and illustrators. In recognition of this vision, WWU is establishing an endowment dedicated to this endeavor.
A gift in honor of Nancy Johnson will provide funds to bring authors and illustrators into area schools. Interacting with their creative energy and talent – up close and personal – is transformative. Your generous donation will help to establish an endowment for this effort!
