Support Science, Math and Technology Education Today!

At SMATE we prepare and inspire future and current elementary and secondary science teachers so their students are also passionate about science. Science education coursework ensures future science teachers have the knowledge and skills to support diverse students so those students can imagine themselves in a STEM career. Involvement in professional development with SMATE, focused on student-centered inclusive instruction, ensures current science teachers have the knowledge and skills to make science content accessible to all students.

SMATE serves as a valuable resource to the university and surrounding community to improve STEM teaching and learning and consists of a diverse, dedicated group of interdisciplinary faculty and staff. SMATE is housed in an innovative STEM education resource center with interactive resources for WWU students and the greater K-12 education community.

Thank you for your consideration and support of SMATE students!
