AMSEC supports faculty and students in materials science education and research across multiple disciplines. Two years ago, students launched the WWU Materials Science Club to bring students together to encourage collaboration, education, research, and outreach. This year, the Club held a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) microscopy event where students saw the SEM in action and learned about accessible, on-campus instrumentation that they can use for research assignments. The Club also continued to participate in campus STEM events including Mix IT Up and The GEMS Fair.
The Club is now accredited as an official community chapter of e-Nable -- a global network of volunteers who create free 3D printed prosthetic hands for those in need. These prosthetics take a substantial amount of club member time, skill, and dedication as described in this Klipsun story.
