During his 28 years as director of the Shannon Point Marine Center (SPMC), Dr. Steve Sulkin developed remarkably innovative programs that impacted the career tracks of a generation of university students. His programs included:
WWU’s financial aid office has done the math, and students making minimum wage have to work 39 hours per week, 52 weeks per year to pay for their college education without loans or scholarships. This makes it nearly impossible for students to participate in immersive study in programs like those developed by Dr. Sulkin without your help. Your gift to the Steve Sulkin Fund helps offset tuition, room, board, books, and travel so students can focus on their research and apply what they are learning.
Each $100 gift to the Steve Sulkin Fund, for the first $1,000, will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Dennis Waller and Kathleen Kitto (who herself played a critically important leadership role at SPMC as Special Assistant to the Provost). This is a great opportunity to multiply the impact of your gift and its ability to support and encourage excellence in Marine Science.
Help us support promising students by contributing to the fund that bears Dr. Sulkin's name. 100% of all donations go directly to students studying at SPMC.
