Society of Economic Geologists seeks to bring together individuals interested in better understanding our resource-rich environment and the minerals it contains. Our club has a strong focus on professional development, field trips, and connecting our students with industry professionals. We have explored industries including hard rock mining and petroleum exploration, and look forward to expanding the reach of our industry connection next year.
SEG has hosted numerous events throughout the year including a panel featuring industry professionals who spoke to their experience working in the mining and oil industries and how to break into this field, a day trip to the Association for Mineral Exploration 2017 Roundup, an overnight trip to Squamish, BC where we took part in a private tour of the Britannia Mine and camped in the area, and a networking workshop.
Donations to our club allow us to continue engaging the WWU Geology student community in important professional development, bonding opportunities linked with education and exploration, and frequent engagement with the incredible network of industry-professional geologists WWU is host to.
